Hijo de Rubentis * Sparkling Rose * 2016

Finally, a patio night for me!! The past two weeks have been rather hectic. Family visits, taxi duty for the kids, the never ending yard work (well the hubs does that, I mostly “oversee” the process)… After a busy day, I grabbed my bottle of the Hijo de Rubentis sparkling rose, reheated some jambalaya, made a salad and headed to the tranquility of my magical back patio. I had been hoarding this wonderful bottle of Spanish sparkling rose for a while now and it was the perfect night.

Best thing about this wine: it’s a fun and interesting sparkling rose wine that is a must try for the summer
Available at: Corkscrew Wine and Cheese (it may be by special request at this time)
By the bottle: under $30
Pairs well with the patio, friends and left over jambalaya
Try this if you like: Gruet rose

St. Amant * Tempranillo * 2013

st Amant.pngThey say not all who wander are lost. I find myself at times getting lost along the aisles of my local wine shops. As I like to say… “Walk a mile in my shoes and you will end up at a wine shop”.  This is not at all a bad thing. It is in fact my happy place. Hearing the clink of the bottles, looking at the different  labels, and making notes of the endless possibilities. The evening is sometimes planned out with what I may bring home. This time I found myself drawn to the St. Amant Tempranillo.

The best thing about this wine is it’s a rustic wine that’s easy to enjoy.
Available at Corkscrew Wine and Cheese (Rockbrook)
By the bottle: $24
Pairs well with the road less traveled…..or the patio
Try this if you like Michael David Earthquake Cabernet Sauvignon.
