They say not to judge a book by its cover. I also hear people say that they bought a certain wine by the label. I usually roll my eyes at that statement, but I fell under the “Label Spell” last week when this little gem came into the shop. It’s a girly, summer, fun, pretty, eye-catching label. So when I was given the opportunity to try it, I was intrigued, but since I normally dislike Albarino wine, I was skeptical.
The best thing about this wine: a surprise ending!

It was a clean, bright wine. It had a golden-yellow hue in my glass. I got a fresh floral nose with notes of apple, apricot and peach. This is 100% Albarino from 30-year-old vines and not what I had expected at all. I usually find them sour, and not very pleasing. Not in this case. Just like a good book, it held my attention and made me want to indulge more.
I took a bottle home and stopped on the way and gave into my guilty pleasure of a Chipotle burrito bowl. I came home, chilled the bottle and since I had some “me time” grabbed my Cork Dork book and headed out to the patio. I have to say that bottle didn’t need re-corking. It was finished and I made a good dent in my book. It was a fantastic evening! So grab a glass and a good book and get uncorked!
