As summer is winding down, the days are getting shorter and we settle back into a more subdued routine, I find that I treasure the time I get to hide away in a wine shop and uncork something yummy. That time came on Saturday when I popped into Corkscrew Wine and Cheese in the Blackstone District and treated myself to a bowl of their delicious Creamy Mushroom soup. I decided to pair it with the Charisse Picpoul de Pinet Blanc.

Brandon, the man in charge of the kitchen, had concocted this 5 mushroom soup that was topped with fresh chives and a bit of grated parmesan and served with a few pieces of toasted baguette. So Yummy! A must try when it is available as the soup of the day.It paired perfectly with this wine.
As for the Charisse Picpoul de Pinet Blanc, WOW! Clean and crisp with aromas of melon. I got slight grapefruit and citrus with a stone finish. It is fermented in stainless steel. It looked amazing in my glass, as it had a light straw color. This is a great white table wine. A must have in your go-to wine section. It is an amazing white wine for under $20. So grab yourself a bottle or two and get uncorked!
