As the summer is flying by and my 4 year old is getting ready to start her first year of school next month, it hit me how fast time is going! It seems like yesterday she was born and now I am out buying school clothes for her. After a day of shopping and tears filling my eyes, I went home to cook. Cooking is my relaxing, stress free “mom” time.

I joined the wine club at Vino Mas a month ago and finally picked up my July wines today. I am super excited to try different wines every month. This month, Vino Mas has a red blend and a Syrah from Barnard Griffin. For dinner, I was making a taco pizza from scratch. I chose to pair this with the Syrah.
Barnard Griffin Syrah from Columbia Valley is fruit forward with cherry on the nose. On the palate it is loaded with fruit, almond and smokiness. As it opened up during dinner, it became even more smokey. It is a full bodied, jammy wine. Although very good paired with the taco pizza, I think a smoked or grilled pork would be outstanding with this wine.
