The 2014 Winemaker’s Selection Pinot Noir is the ultimate food wine; this Pinot Noir is a great match for any fare, from BBQ burgers to maybe smoked salmon on the grill. On the nose there is dark cherry, tobacco, orange peel, black tea. The taste gives way to cherries and berries, dark chocolate, chai, hint of black pepper. The finish was well-balanced with smooth tannins.
Start the fireworks early with the 2013 Anne Amie Estate Dry Riesling. You get a treat with the lemon drops, kiwi, nutmeg on the nose with a rich, dry finish. From a cool summer salad to chilled spring rolls to a hot dog off the grill, you can’t go wrong with this old glory in your glass.
Finally, Rosé the day away with the 2015 Huntington Hill Rosé of Pinot Gris. Sparks will fly when you experience nectarine, honey, plum, spice, pepper, and shortbread on the palate. Your senses will explode when they get peach, fennel, spice, gingerbread, orange blossom and tea on the nose. Grab a cupcake, shortbread with berry topping and an extra pour of this yummy Rosé and relax the day away.
So whatever your plans are this Fourth of July, stop by Corkscrew Wine and Cheese at either location Rockbrook or Blackstone and get your Anne Amie Red, White or Rosé wine today.
Happy Fourth of July from all of us at Omaha Wine Review!
