My father-in-law walked into the living room last night and said, “If you can handle it, I have a Pinot Noir to drink before the steaks, and a really good Malbec for dinner.” I was excited about the steaks and Malbec, but, of course, I was more than brave enough to take a peak at the Pinot he had chosen prior to dinner.

My father in law knows I enjoy a good Pinot Noir. He also has a sense for picking a great wine that will pair with dinner. As a 2015 Pinot Noir, this wine is fabulous. Bright and light berry is consistent throughout, with what I taste as a sweet cherry and vanilla flavor. Near the end, pepper, oak, and full tannins flutter upon the taste buds. It’s light like a Pinot but a little deeper in color than most.
This wine is widely appreciated and over the past several years has consistently proved to be respectable for the price point. It was and continues to be perfect for a pre-dinner social drink.
