Growth Mindset Parenting

One evening near the end of a bottle of wine, great conversation, and dwelling on the merits of the terms “fixed mindset” versus “growth mindset”, Mark grabbed a bottle of John Anthony Cabernet, suggesting my wife and I would enjoy it. Fast-forward a few days later to when my wife and I experienced a particularly tough parenting day. Our only daughter is wonderful, but—like all children—she proved to be extremely difficult this day, causing us a little more stress and anxiety than we had anticipated. I snatched up the John Anthony, thinking it would be just the trick to bring us down to reality: we’re not bad parents, it was just an off day.

The best thing about this wine: Smooth and balanced all the way through
Available at: The Omaha Wine Company
By the bottle: $65.00 – $70.00

This Cabernet Sauvignon hits the mark as an excellent wine. Deep, dark color, and simple, smooth, velvety flavors carry all the way through. Dark fruit flavors kick it off with subtle oak undertones near the end along with more dark fruit. I want to say it is a rich wine, but that description may lead some astray to think it is overbearing; rather it’s rich in a consistent, compact, and clean way. It makes for very easy and effortless drinking on its own. Shamelessly, we paired it with grilled brats, yams, and baked beans. This ended up being a nice complement to the casual meal, and the 15% alcohol content was the delicious edge we needed as parents that day. 🙂
